BorgWarner Agrees to Sell Tire Pressure Monitoring Business to HUF Electronics GmbH

Divestiture Consistent with BorgWarner’s Focus on Powertrain Technologies
Auburn Hills, Michigan, November 30, 2011 – BorgWarner has agreed to sell its tire pressure monitoring business to Huf Electronics GmbH. The sale includes a manufacturing facility in Bretten, Germany, which employs approximately 230 people. Completion of the transaction is subject to regulatory approvals.

The tire pressure monitoring business was acquired in 2005 as a small piece of the BERU diesel cold start and ignition systems business. While the tire pressure monitoring product technology has been continuously developed and meets the upcoming strict European standards, it departs from BorgWarner’s strong focus on powertrain technologies. This transaction is limited to the tire pressure monitoring business only and does not affect other BorgWarner products or technologies.

SCHRADER 2012 APPLICATION DATA

DENVER, Colo. (October 10, 2011) – Schrader®, a pioneer and leading global manufacturer of tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS), today announced the release of its comprehensive 2012 catalog of application data for TPMS-equipped vehicles. With this news, Schrader is the first company to make available important 2012 make, model and year (MMY) and correlated Schrader part information for TPMS-enabled vehicles, further cementing the company’s commitment to providing the most comprehensive and accurate application data possible.
“The process of collecting, validating and delivering accurate application data is essential to the support of our customers – it allows the Aftermarket community to accurately service more of their customers and is critical for the installation of Schrader replacement sensors, service packs, and other TPMS-related products,” said Trevor Potter, vice president of Aftermarket, Schrader. “By delivering 2012 application data in-year, we’re enabling our Aftermarket customers to stay further ahead of the curve.”
Schrader’s application research process is focused on providing comprehensive, verified and accurate results that will enable the service and repair industry to better service their customers. With over 54 percent of global vehicle platforms carrying Schrader TPMS sensor technology off the assembly line, and more than 160 million actual Schrader sensors on the road today, Schrader has extensive access and insight into important vehicle information. In addition to a thorough review of existing vehicle platforms that will be carried forward into the new year, Schrader has incorporated details about new model types with Schrader sensors in the 2012 catalog. For example, in addition to widely known models that are carried forward, the catalog includes application data on new vehicles such as the Aston Martin® Virage, Audi® A7, BMW® X1, Kia®Cadenza, Scion® iQ, and the Volkswagen® Polo, among others.
“With over 256 million sensors within 65 million vehicles in North America,  Aftermarket service and repair facilities will always need the latest, most accurate information on replacement TPMS parts for the diverse vehicle types that enter their service bays,” said Scot Holloway, general manager, Bartec. “Schrader and Bartec have not only combined to deliver the Schrader EZ-sensorTM, the industry’s first patented and programmable sensor solution, but are also working together to ensure accuracy and timeliness in new MMY application data. This updated data is not only available in print-catalog form, but the same 2012 data will be available for update within Bartec handheld TPMS-programming tools as well.”
Schrader’s 2012 catalog of application data will be sent to customers, as well as available in the Schrader Booth (#40079) at the Special Equipment Manufacturers Association (SEMA) Show from November 1 – November 4, 2011 in Las Vegas. The Schrader EZ-sensor™ for Total TPMS

What is the EZ-sensor™?

EZ-sensor™ (PROGRAMMABLE TPMS) is the first truly programmable and patented Tire Pressure Monitoring Sensor which has been designed with the goal of replacing 90% of the TPMS sensors currently stocked by the dealer. There are over 150 SKU's of tire sensors fitted to North American vehicles and the repair task has become ever more complex as a result. EZ-sensor™ simplifies the TPMS replacement process, dramatically reduces the costs of inventory, and avoids those lost sales.
Schrader have based the design on their patented programming technology and proven Snap-In valve design and arranged for the programming software to be available on market-leading TPMS tools including the Schrader 21230 tool and the Bartec TECH400, among others. This means that for the majority of customers no extra investment in new tools is required and programming the EZ-sensor™ programmable sensors is seamless with their current processes.
